Schenectady is a fascinating city with a remarkable history. The modern history of "The Place Beyond The Pines" starts with the Erie Canal.

A couple of us have been walking the Erie Canalway Trail as a part of the stage hike. We have walked fairly far into Central NY. After a hiatus due to the pandemic, we are looking forward to trying starting again from the beginning. On one of our first trips, we decided that the place for us to celebrate our trek was Great Flats Brewery in Schenectady, NY.

This is a fabulous open industrial space with well spaced table and windows that when seasonally appropriate open entirely to the outside. Yes, the entire space is a patio and it is glorious.

This is a farm to table brewery with a wide selection of excellent beers. If you are looking for more, this is not the space for you. I could see this as being less than appealing for those who are bringing their kiddos along with them. This is not a criticism. Adults deserve to have adult only spaces. This is also a space for adults to relax after difficult and sweaty activities. Family website, friends. I meant hot yoga. Great Flats' neighbors Studio 4 Yoga has students that will often enjoy the taproom after a great session.

Parking is available in front of the brewery. We have never had an issue. Per Yelp (I know.), Great Flats is one of the most dog friendly places in the area.
