Mean Max Brew Works

There’s no food. There’s only outdoor seating during the summer. The Troy location often runs out of beer, especially Johns Brook pale ale, which is my favorite. Dogs are allowed. There’s no parking. (I mean, there’s a municipal lot behind the building, but a lot of people don’t know that and there are stairs.) 

With all that being said, one of my favorite places to end up after a run is Mean Max Brew Works in downtown Troy New York. There are some very good beers and cocktails, an excellent staff, great music, and dart, lots of pinball machines, and a ton of space.

For the food situation, I recommend Mex Cocina La Catrina (see below).  It’s an excellent Mexican place across the street that you can order online and then go pick up. I would definitely get the torta. They also have pupperitos for your dog friends.

As for the drink selections, Mean Max offers New York based beer and cocktails. They also have a selection of nonalcoholic beers. There are multiple draft lines as well as cans. L’s favorite is the black walnut old-fashioned with maple syrup.  I love the aforementioned Johns Brook.

There is another location in Glens Falls. I have never been there. I tend to avoid Glens Falls.

Is it family friendly? Sure, I guess.

Liz, the bar manager, is great. She’s accommodating. She’s good people.
